The 8th Japan EXPO was held on July 6-8 at Parc d’Exposition Paris Nord Villpinte in France. A three day manga/anime festival was packed with fashion shows by Laforet HARAJUKU with major Japanese Gothic-Loretta brands, namely Algonquins, BABY, Stigma, Putumayo, Emily Temple cute, and lots more, the French qualifier for the World Cosplay Summit 2007, a lecture by Professor Keichi Makino, Director of Kyoto Manga Museum, Manga Research Center and Manga School of Kyoto Seika University, concerts, and other exciting events. From professional to amateur manga writers, they all gathered to put up booths to show off their creations and goods. My 15 year old daughter would’ve loved to go! It may be worth noting that Ukiyo-e was first appreciated by French Impressionists and now manga culture is again supported by the French people.
